Event description
Europe’s most exciting robotics event takes place in Bris. Leading speakers, an industry-leading panel and the latest technology on display.

About this Event

A rare chance to hear from the industry’s leading automation and robotics experts.

Hear about why small businesses should use robots, what are ‘robot ethics’ and when are automated cars going to take to the road (if ever)!

And, have a play with some robots, upfront and personal. Here in the heart of Bristol City Centre.

We’ve got it all, but hurry, there’s limited space and we’d love to see you there.

And yes, your drink will be poured by a robot.

What to expect

Robotics Conference

The robotics conference covers topics that are currently impacting UK SMEs. They look at the following topics:

  • Mike Wilson | The current state of UK robotics | Why the UK are behind other countries with robotic progress and what the country is doing to change perceptions of robots and automation in the workplace
  • Kate Hyslop | Democratising Robotics | What we can do to make robots more common in the workplace, these are both behavioural changes from small business and action taken from the robotics industry.
  • Jim Davison | How robotics solutions are being used in manufacturing | Examples of some of the UK's businesses that are currently using robotics and how automation has changed their businesses.
  • Professor Tony Pipe | Autonomous Vehicles | What are they, how far off are they and how are they changing the workplace.
  • Karl Foster | Robotics and Ethics | Blake Morgan LLP look at the top considerations from a legal perspective on implementing robotics and the ethical dilemmas that come with that.

Panel Debate

Following the conference is a Panel debate featuring diverse and interesting minds from robotics, finance and consulting worlds. The panel will focus on questions from a variety of topics and from the audience. Here are the panelists:

  • Farid Dailami | RIF | Farid and RIF help small businesses take the first setup with robotics and automation implementation. They focus on businesses in the South West
  • Dominic Keen | Britbots | Dominic manages the investment for many companies in the UK robotics sector and is a valuable consultant for robotics start-ups
  • Dr Susanne Bieller | International Federation of Robotics | The IFR provides robotics surveys and help robotics manufacturers find new markets.
  • Paul Grantham| Natwest | Paul is Natwest's manufacturing lead and works with manufacturing businesses with forecasting and support.
  • Ashu Sharma | PwC Consulting | Ashu Sharma is PwC's robotics expert, with robotics stretching across a number of industries, Ashu sees where it adds value for businesses.

Robotics Demonstration Hall

After the show is a robotics showcase where you will see the technology for yourself. Here is the tech on show:

  • Blino | Blino specialise in measuring brainwaves. So, they're testing whether or not you can turn a light on with your mind... Yes really. Do you fancy yourself as the next Megneto?
  • MiRo | The biometic companion robot to teach people coding. Is it a rabbit, a dog, a cat or a donkey? You can see for yourself.
  • ABB | Experts in industrial automation. Talk to them about your automation requirements. They've helped match more than 400,000 robots with businesses.
  • Automata | Who knew that you could get an industrial robot for less than £7k? And you can set it up to do a task in 30 minutes. See Automata's Eva for yourself.
  • BARA | The British Automation & Robot Association will showcase how they assist with the growth of the automation sector in the UK.
