Botanic Painting - How to get started
Event Information
About this event
If you want to get started in the traditional process of painting Botanics, then this is the event for you.
This three hour demonstration session sees Botanic Artist Gail Wareham talk you through the processes involved in producing drawings and paintings of plants, flowers & vegetables, using the technical methods linked to Botanic Illustration.
Gail will guide you through the steps required to build a Botanic painting, which differs significantly from general painting methods used for stylised flower & plant representation.
Botanic painting makes the onlooker feel they can pick up the flower from the paper. If you take the time to follow the processes required to obtain this effect, your artwork will sing louder to those who see it whilst giving you great satisfaction in your creative journey.
Come along with your enthusiasm and as many questions as you wish to ask, while Gail talks and demonstrates this old artform in front of you.
Your tutor for this workshop is Gail Wareham, who has been teaching visual arts for over twenty years. Her Gallery & Teaching Studio, located on the beautiful Hirsel Estate in Coldstream, is the perfect venue with plenty of parking, an on-site cafe, and woodland walks.
