This workshop is great for beginners and more seasoned artists where you will walk away with a beautiful botanically themed tile and learn a few sculptural techniques along the way.
- Feeling form: Carving and embossing flowers into a plaster tile, creating beautiful botanical designs.
- Capture: Creating a mould to copy your sculpture and understanding what can and can’t be done. Understanding how to avoid undercuts. Learning how to capture a design through embossing into wet clay.
- Replication: Taking that mould and using it to cast your design into a different material, going into detail about why we do so.
- Materiality: Explaining the advantages and disadvantages to certain materials and how to best utilise their strengths and weaknesses.
By the end of this course you will be able to confidently create and reproduce any design in low relief and turn that work into a usable mould for casting in plaster.
