Spend a vibrant morning exploring the natural colours and patterns hidden in plants as you learn the magical art of botanical dyeing.

In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own beautifully dyed silk scarf using the bundle dye technique, and experiment with flower pounding to make striking prints on cotton tote bags.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to bundle dye using seasonal flowers and plant material
  • Techniques for wrapping, steaming, and setting natural colour on silk
  • The joyful art of flower pounding to transfer natural pigments onto fabric
  • Tips for working with different fibres and plants at home

While your silk scarves are steaming and setting, you'll move on to flower pounding on cotton tote bags—perfect for a vibrant, plant-dyed keepsake you can use every day.

  • All materials, including one silk scarf and cotton fabric

No experience needed. Just bring your curiosity and a love of colour!Suitable for ages 12+ (under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult).

You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind botanical silk scarf, a hand-pounded cotton print, and all the knowledge to keep exploring at home.Please note that flower pounding is noisy so you may want to bring ear defenders if you are particularly sensitive to loud noises.

What age is the workshop suitable for?

This workshop is suitable for ages 12 and up. Please note that under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult, as this is a hands-on craft that requires focus and manual dexterity.

Do I need any previous experience with dyeing or crafts?

Not at all! This workshop is beginner-friendly and suitable for anyone with an interest in natural dyes, creativity, or textiles. You’ll be guided through every step.

What should I bring with me?

All tools and materials are provided, as well as tea and coffee throughout the day. Just bring yourself and your creative curiosity

What will I take home with me?

You’ll leave with a beautifully bundle-dyed silk scarf and a flower-pounded cotton tote bag—both made by you—as well as the knowledge to keep experimenting at home.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. The venue has wheelchair accessible access and disbaled toilets. The hall is all on one level and you cn choose whether to work sitting or standing at the tables or on the floor - whichever feels more comfortble for your personal needs.
