The Botanical Mind - Free Timed Entry

About this Event

We’re delighted to welcome you back to Camden Art Centre from Thursday 24 September, with the exhibition The Botanical Mind: Art, Mysticism and The Cosmic Tree.

A source of shelter and sustenance, fuel and tools, decoration and adornment, medicine and myth, humanity’s history and evolution is intimately entangled with that of the plant kingdom – an impossibly rich, ancient and abundant form of life on earth, but one utterly different from our own. The Botanical Mind: Art, Mysticism and the Cosmic Tree brings together the work of over 50 artists, spanning more than 500 years, to investigate the ongoing significance of the plant kingdom to human life, consciousness and spirituality. In doing so it highlights the subjectivity and being of plants, their influence on various knowledge-forms and wisdom-traditions, and how we engage with and activate them in culture, counter-culture, art and music.

To coincide with our re-opening, Camden Art Centre will have new health & safety measures in place to prioritise the welfare and peace of mind of our staff and visitors.

All visitors will be required to book timed tickets online before visiting the gallery. We are offering free tickets as well as an optional donation.

Here is some essential safety information for you:

  • We do need you to arrive at the timeslot on your ticket, to avoid overcrowding. But once inside you can stay as long as you like.
  • The entrance to the building is via the Arkwright Road car park entrance. Visitors will exit from the main gate on Arkwright Road (apart from those requiring level access). Read more about where to find us on our visit page.
  • You may be asked to wait for short periods during busy times to ensure that social distancing is not compromised.
  • Everyone within the Centre is expected to social distance at 2 metres, at all times and respect the personal space of other visitors and members of staff.
  • Please wear a face covering, unless exempt.
  • We will ask you to sanitise your hands on entering the Centre.
  • We need you to listen to and respect any guidance from the Camden Art Centre’s Front of House team. They are working to keep you safe and are following the Centre’s required safety measures.
  • Children must please be supervised at all times.
  • Please stay at home if you feel unwell.
  • Our galleries and café are open.
  • The Bookshop will remain closed during autumn, but you can buy The Botanical Mind exhibition related books, catalogues and other merchandise.

Please note: Booking at Camden Art Centre signifies your agreement to our essential safety terms and conditions as stated above and that you accept your details might be shared with NHS Test and Trace.

If you require any access special requirements to be put in to place ahead of your visit, please email bookshop@camdenartcentre.org or call 0207 472 5500, at least a couple of working days ahead of your booked slot.
