Botanical Printing

Saturday 28th June

Session 1 - 10am to 2pm

Session 2 - 2.30pm to 6.30pm

Hosted by Naturally Useful

Botanical printing is a natural dyeing technique that uses plants to create patterns and colours on fabric and paper. This workshop will teach you the practice of Botanical Printing. During the steaming process, we will also have a go at the Hapazome technique which involved bashing the botanicals with a hammer! We will take a break for a picnic and walk around the discovery trail.

No previous experience is needed and all materials needed are provided.

If you’d like to bring leaves along from your own garden, please do- here is a little suggested list of those that we know can work well: Oak, Copper Beech, Hazel, Eucalyptus, Smoke Bush (Cotinus) Birch, Willow, Rose, Fruit bushes and fruit tree leaves, Fern, Maple and Strawberry leaves. Flowers: Hollyhock, Goldenrod, Weld, Dyer’s Chamomile, Dianthus, Dahlia, Dyer’s Coreopsis, Tagetes, Geranium, Violet and Golden Marguerite.
