Description

Working on the frontline, you are likely to come face-to-face with decisions that can call into question your professional boundaries and personal safety. This training course aims to highlight awareness of appropriate behavior and coping strategies in various challenging scenarios.

This course will:

  • identify risks to staff and risks to service users

  • discuss and evaluate safe lone working practices

  • identify coping strategies to manage potentially difficult situations

  • identify why boundaries are needed and the challenges in maintaining them and recognise cultural and gender issues in maintaining boundaries

  • define the limits and boundaries of your work role

  • identify and demonstrate effective body language, assertiveness and communication techniques

  • develop decision making skills and use of professional judgement

  • confidence in defusing potential threats

  • develop tools to directly deal with and manage aggression, abuse and threatening behaviour

  • help you to recognise your own emotional needs and how to access support

  • identify reflective practice tools and develop self-awareness around professional practice

  • discuss best practice in information sharing and recording in managing and minimising risk
