Event description

Description

3 artists, 3 locations, 3 themes

This spring there will be 3 themed evenings each with a special guest established artist.

Join us to present your art work, hear feedback from peers and join the conversation. In each session the guest artist will share their practice to kick off the evening and be part of the facilitated conversations around the practising artists work.

Guest artists will work in 3 areas: painting, digital/media and 3d/installation.

Bow Arts seeks to support creative professionals at all stages of their careers. In 2015 Bow Arts launched Bow Skills in response to an artist survey which showed over 90% of practicing artists find it useful to receive further support outside formal education. Bow Skills is a dynamic and relevant programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which is informed by an artist steering group and open to all creative practitioners across London. The programme of talks, panel discussions, new skills labs and peer crits is open to all, with concession rates available to Bow Arts artists and students.

Evening Features

  • The evening will provide 5 slots to present and 15 slots to join the conversation
  • The guest artist's short introduction to their practice
  • Each of the 5 presenting artist have 20 minutes to present and discuss work

We are delighted to announce the guest artist for this session will be Anj Smith. Smith lives and works in London, following a BA at Slade and MA at Goldsmiths, she is now represented by Hauser & Wirth and has exhibited widely.

Important information

Please note the evening will start promptly at 6.15pm and it is important you attend the whole evening.

The event will be facilitated by artist Elizabeth Murton, who has facilitated peer crits and events for over 10 years. Constructive and generous environment will be encouraged.

Places will go on a first come, first served basis. Please only sign up to present at this session if you have an interest in the relevant topic area. Presenters will need to write a short paragraph (2/3 sentences) on why they want to attend when booking via eventbrite. This only needs to be brief and is to demonstrate your interest/relevance to your practice.

Each session is at a different venue - the Painting session will be held at the Bow Arts Trust office, in the Courtyard Room.
