‘Boy’: UK Parliament Week
Thu 17 November 2016, 18:00 – 20:00 GMT
“BOY's story doesn't want to be told. He doesn't want to have a story. He just wants to fit in and not be different, whatever that means. But the more he tries, the worse it seems to get and he's reaching the point where...”
Award winning HyperFusion Theatre Company and Inclusion For All join ParliOUT, Parliament’s Workplace Equality Network (WEN) in support of LGBTIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and questioning) people, to present a ground-breaking theatre production: 'BOY', an interactive theatre show that looks at bullying and identity.
BOY’s aim is to create safe spaces for all young people regardless of identity and sexuality. BOY’s mission is this; to inspire change and create a deeper understanding of the nature of prejudice in all its forms.
Using a cast of five professional actors, BOY explores homophobic and other forms of prejudicial bullying and language. BOY has been directly informed by focus group conversations with young people aimed at exploring their experiences of bullying and prejudicial language in the playground and in wider communities, to ensure the themes and content of BOY are grounded in young people’s everyday experiences.
