Stress management: just something else to get stressed about, especially for those of us being asked to improve retention rates and productivity amongst employees. In fact, over 105 million working days are estimated to be lost each year because of work-related stress. But whilst we all know what stress feels like when it takes over, it may take us a while to acknowledge what is going on, or to identify our best coping strategies. And if we have trouble managing stress in ourselves, how can we best support our colleagues and reports, who are likely to experience stress differently from us?
OPP business psychologists work closely with a wide range of organisations to uncover simple but effective strategies for building resilience and reducing the impact of workplace stress using personality type theory and the insights that it brings. By recognising the triggers for and consequences of stress for people with different personality characteristics, it is possible to mitigate the negative effects of distress – and perhaps even to start harnessing the positive, motivating force of pressure and challenge that can help us reach our potential.
