‘One castle, one palace, two brothers, many museums: Berlin's Humboldt Forum’

Ahead of the opening of one of the most eagerly anticipated museum projects in Europe – Berlin’s Humboldt Forum – we hear from Neil MacGregor, one of the founding directors of the Forum, at our 2016 Brady Lecture.

A celebrated historian and museum director, Neil MacGregor led the British Museum from 2002-2015, where he conceived a number of exceptional shows unlocking the past and making it accessible to a broad audience. The History of the World in 100 Objects and Germany: Memories of a Nation were such exhibitions telling stories and history through objects.

In his lecture, Neil MacGregor will give an insight into the history and future of the exciting, if not uncontroversial, reincarnation of the Berliner Stadtschloss that is the Humboldt Forum.

Join us at the Goethe-Institut London for an opportunity to hear one of today’s most influential figures in British-German cultural exchange.

Brady Lecture
Held every year, the Goethe-Institut London’s Brady Lecture commemorates the achievements of broadcaster and lecturer Philip Brady (1932-97). He contributed remarkably to British-German exchange, broadcasting regularly on BBC German and the World Service and maintaining a close relationship with the Goethe-Institut throughout his career.

Past speakers included amongst others Christopher Clark (2014), David Chipperfield (2012), Norman Rosenthal (2010), Tacita Dean (2006), Peter Jonas (2005), Ian Kershaw (2003), Richard Wentworth (2002), AS Byatt (2001).
