Event description
Classical concert by the Herts CO with James Southall conducting Brahms Double Concerto, rare Janáček and a popular Dvořák symphony.

About this Event

Conductor James Southall conducts the Hertfordshire Chamber Orchestra in two major works and a rarity. The Brahms Double Concerto for violin, cello and orchestra with soloists Benjamin Nabarro (violin) and Gemma Rosefield (cello) was premiered by Brahms himself in 1887 in Cologne. The short Adagio by Janáček for small orchestra was composed in 1891. Symphony no.7 in D minor by Dvořák was premiered in London in 1885 at the now largely forgotten St James's Hall.
