Branching Out in Research
Tue 13 June 2017, 09:30 – 16:00 BST
We would like to welcome you to the annual PGR conference at the Department of Sociological Studies, The University of Sheffield.
The theme of this year’s conference is "Branching out in Research" and the conference will hear from a range of postgraduate students whose research aims to explore how social scientists can look beyond the usual realms of social research, in terms of topic areas, social groups and methodology. Talks will be arranged into six streams across the day. These are:
- Social Policy and Welfare States
- Methods and New Data
- Children and Families
- Migration and Transculturalism
- Later Life
- Hard to Reach groups?
We are pleased to announce that Professor Sarah Neal, Co-Editor of the British Sociological Association journal Sociology, will be our keynote speaker. There will also be a roundtable discussion with PhD students in their latter years on the process of conducting research in the field.
We welcome students from across all levels, disciplines and universities. The conference is free to attend, and refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Please sign up by the 26th May 2017.
