Event description

Description

Join us on the 29th May at The Projects for a follow up workshop with The University of Brighton and The Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce's Big Debate, "Are Brighton's businesses reaching far enough?"

This event is open to both those who joined The Big Debate and those who would like support putting together a solid action plan to help grow their business internationally.

As we discussed at The Big Debate on the 9th April, Brighton is undoubtedbly an incredible place to start a business. With its make-up of thriving digital and creative businesses in amongst larger organisations, the energy is palpable and the many coffee shops are buzzing with collaboration. There’s a high number of start-ups, lots of great co-working spaces and some world class businesses here. It is however, a fair criticism, that it does not come naturally to Brightonian businesses to look outside of the regional and UK market to win business. Given the current climate, it seems a pertinent time to ask ourselves 2 questions:

  • How can Brighton businesses best place themselves to work within an international market?

  • How can we all, under the umbrella of "Brand Brighton" work together to position ourselves as a world-class city to do business?

The event will be hosted by:

Clare Griffiths, award-winning university educator specialising in entrepreneurship education, currently working at the University of Brighton,

and Ramy Badrie, International Student and Amnesty Society Welfare Officer at the University of Brighton.

Attendees will come away from the evening with a solid action plan to both grow their business internationally and work collaboratively with other Brightonian organisations to raise the profile of the city globally.
