Trade Marks have come to mean more than just having a logo for your business. They have become valuable commodities in themselves. The logos of some of the biggest brands are recognised the world over as consumers have a powerful association with them. In today's global economy, Trade Marks carry the weight of a brands story, image and reputation.
Trade Marks are an important Intellectual Property Right and this workshop will look at how a Trade Mark can be a useful business asset.
You will gain:
- An understanding of the function of Trade Marks
- An awareness of the factors to consider before filing a Trade Mark
- Knowledge of where and how to file a Trade Mark
- An understanding of why Trade Marks are important to business through case studies
There will also be an opportunity to ask your Trade Mark questions.
The session will be led by Syeda Rahimunnessa, IP Manager at London South Bank University. Syeda has several years experience working with student start-ups and entrepreneurs. She manages the University IP portfolio and supports academics in the development and execution of commercialisation projects. Syeda guest lectures on IP and provides 1-2-1 advisory support to student entrepreneurs to identify and look after IP in their business idea.

There is a package of support available to help you start your entrepreneurial journey at LSBU. Through events, workshops and start-up schemes, you will be supported to develop your entrepreneurial knowledge and skills.
I am not a Student or Alumni member of LSBU. Can I still attend the event?
Yes, our events are open to all members of the public, as well as our students, staff and alumni. All we ask is that you come with the willingness to learn something new and an entrepreneurial mind-set.
What are my transport options getting to the event?
By train and tube – Southwark and Elephant & Castle stations are a 5 minute walk from LSBU’s campus. Lambeth North, Waterloo and London Bridge are a 15minute walk or a short bus-ride.
