CYMBIOSIS DUO
from symbiosis (biology): a relationship between two types of animal or plant in which each provides for the other the conditions necessary for its continued existence

Micah Baker and Lewis Chinn are CYMBIOSIS—an innovative duo combining tuba and percussion to create captivating performances that transcend musical boundaries. Their infectious energy and genre-hopping repertoire spans jazz, folk, Latin, Afrobeats, pop, and contemporary classical, delivering an entirely fresh musical experience.

Winner of Trinity Laban's Gold Medal Award Showcase and Audience Prize (2023), CYMBIOSIS has performed across London's diverse venues—from intimate cafés to grand cathedrals—and toured Switzerland in 2024. Their debut at Kings Place showcased the extraordinary chemistry that makes this unusual instrumentation so compelling.

Micah Baker is a London-based drummer, percussionist, and composer with a master's in jazz percussion from The Guildhall School. Raised across three countries, his eclectic musical journey encompasses big band, rock, R&B, and world percussion, with current projects spanning jazz vibraphone, pop ensembles, and musical theatre.

Lewis Chinn is a versatile multi-instrumentalist performing on tuba, sousaphone, sackbutts, Irish whistle, guitar, and bagpipes. A Trinity Laban graduate with first-class honours, his tuba mastery is deeply influenced by British folksong traditions. Lewis is also a dedicated music educator teaching across London schools.

Together, they create music that is both authentically rooted and boldly experimental—a truly organic fusion that connects with audiences wherever they perform.
