Overview

A free workshop that teaches you how to support people who feel lonely and help them build positive connections to improve their wellbeing.

A free two-hour workshop for erosh members, run by the British Red Cross that will teach you how to support people who feel lonely and help them build positive connections to improve their wellbeing.


Background:

Originally an initiative borne out of the experience of Covid lockdown and the detrimental impact of loneliness on health and wellbeing, the British Red Cross has developed its workshop to become ‘Supporting Connections’. Incorporating research by Sheffield Hallam University with contribution from the Centre for Loneliness Studies, the workshop covers:

  • Defining the causes of loneliness and social isolation
  • Barriers and benefits of social connection
  • Professional skills for use by personnel involved in support work


The method used is discussion-based and learner-led.


The Workshop is Suitable For:

Independent living practitioners an managers in residential schemes.


This course is only open to erosh members and ILS registered members. There are a maximum of 20 places available.
