Kickstart your week with a foodpreneur morning walk from Brick Lane to Smithfields Market.
This mentor walk is all about distribution and sales, as we wander through the city with five of our favourite industry icons in tow. If you're a food and drink founder, join us on this 60 minute morning walk through the city and chat about growing sales for your food business before going about your day.
What's a Mentor Walk?
Our mentor walks are a great way to hang out with experienced, successful food and drink entrepreneurs and get to know how they brought their visions to life. We thought it would be fun to walk through London whilst chatting to a few industry greats and fellow foodies at the same time. Each walk focuses on a different aspect of food and drink entrepreneurship and you will be joined by five industry leaders.
Time & Place
Start: 08:00am 10th July on Brick Lane (exact location TBC)
End: 09:00am 10th July (the walk is only 30 minutes) at Smithfields Market

In the summer of 2013 Suzie Walker was looking for some healthy snacks for her two-year-old daughter, but was struggling to find on-the-go snacks that weren’t full of carbohydrate or sugar, She tried out some recipes at home, blending dates with nuts and coconut - Suzie’s daughter loved them and so Primal Pantry was born. They now have a turnover of £3m, with their paleo bars being sold in 26 countries, as well as all major UK supermarkets and on Ocado.
Chris Whittaker, former Buyer at Waitrose
Chris spent almost a decade working for Waitrose, during which time he has been a buyer for Dairy & Milk Alts, Chilled Juice, Superfoods and most recently Canned Goods. He's worked with a number of startup brands to bring them into their first listing in a major mult, including Plenish, Savse, Naturya, Simplee Aloe & Sibberi. Chris is passionate about helping exciting brands develop their commercial strategy and prepare their pitches.
Lucy Wright, Co-Founder, Cuckoo Foods, Founder, Ananas Consulting @lucy_ananas
Straight out of University Lucy co-founded Cuckoo with a mission to shake up the way we eat breakfast. Her answer was to create five innovative flavour combinations for on-the-go Bircher muesli that were ideal for busy people. Cuckoo products were found in Selfridges, Tesco, Ocado, and Waitrose. Most recently she founded Ananas that focuses on growing sales channels for FMCG food brands.
Liz Schofield, Head of Sales, Well&Truly @lizschofield
Always a passionate foodie, Liz has worked as a food critic in Moscow, more recently learning the tricks of the trade at both large and small FMCG companies including Higgidy, All About Food and Mondelez in both commercial and category roles. Liz joined Well&Truly at the beginning of 2017, a brand that believes that less is moreish with their gluten free, all natural snacks and are now in over 1,600 stores around the UK including Tesco and Booths.
Tara Mei, Founder, Kitchen Table Projects, Bread & Butter @kitchtablepro
Tara has worked with over 500 food and drink brands, supporting them through business bootcamps (with M&S), speed mentoring sessions, networking nights and retail pop-ups (in Old Street and Oxford Circus) with her retail incubator the Kitchen Table Projects. She was recently awarded the prestigious accolade of Top New Talent by the Grocer magazine.
