Find out more about local welfare support and share your experiences
The Local Welfare Safety Net project is all about making sure welfare support is working for the people who need it most. This collaboration, funded by Lloyds Bank Foundation, addresses the increasing importance of local welfare packages, designed to help households struggling to make ends meet from the mainstream benefits system, such as the Household Support Fund, York Financial Assistance Scheme, Council Tax support, and food and fuel vouchers.
The collaboration consists of seven partners: the University of York, City of York Council, Age UK York, Citizens Advice York, York Foodbank, Peasholme Charity and the Welfare Benefits Unit.
This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences and lived experience research running from September to December, facilitated by Healthwatch York and Lived Insights.
#TalkMoney
This event falls during Talk Money week in York and nationally. Talk Money weeks aim to break down barriers and make it easier for people to share their thoughts and feelings about money. At the event, there will be information on support and guidance on improving financial wellbeing as well as a Benefits Advisor on hand to talk to attendees.
