If we continue on our current path, the plastic flowing into the ocean will nearly triple by 2040. We have the solutions to reduce this number by more than 80% by 2040 – but only if key decision-makers start making system-wide changes today.

At this event, you will join with members across the Commonwealth and beyond to dive deeper into Breaking the Plastic Wave – a first-of-its-kind analysis of the global plastics system published by the Pew Charitable Trusts and SYSTEMIQ.

Speakers from Duke University will also share insights from the last 20 years of government responses to plastic pollution, and the lessons that can be learnt to shape more effective policies in future.

As a partner in these two studies, Common Seas will draw out insights of relevance to common themes that have emerged during discussions with Governments across the Commonwealth Clean Ocean Alliance. Together, we will consider how these latest analyses can support decision-makers to quickly and significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste produced and stop it polluting our Ocean.

We hope that you can join us at ‘Breaking the Plastic Wave Across the Commonwealth’ - either on Tuesday 10th or Thursday 12th November.

The 90-minute webinar will comprise a chaired series of short presentations, followed by a Q&A session and a chance to reflect on the issues raised. Come with questions for the speakers - or feel free to submit them live.
