Whilst evidence indicates that more men gamble than women, we have begun to see the gender gap narrowing, with recent data suggesting that rates of participation in gambling activities are increasing for women:

  • In 2024, 46% of women participated in gambling in the past four weeks, an increase from 44% in 2023.
  • For men, 52% participated in gambling in the past four weeks in 2023, decreasing to 51% in 2024.
  • In this same period, 68% of the calls to GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline were from men seeking support, while just 32% of calls were from women.

We can begin to see a gender divide in accessing support despite a closing gap in participation in gambling activities.

Attend our event to understand the role you have to play in women's recovery as well as the wider reaching impact gambling has on others.
