Event description
Trauma survivors often get triggered or feel overwhelmed. Mindfulness is a great tool to help survivors ground and regulate their emotions.

About this Event

15th FEBRUARY 2020 – MINDFULNESS & TRAUMA (SST.103)

at Weston Hub in Bath

Survivors of trauma can often struggle to deal with difficult emotions, especially when triggered by reminders of past traumatic events.

This 1-day workshop is suitable both for survivors of trauma, and for professionals and others involved in supporting survivors.

The course aims to enable participants to understand the role of mindfulness in treating trauma, and to use mindfulness and meditation techniques to ground immediate distress, stabilise dysregulated feelings, and develop a greater tolerance to triggers and intrusive thoughts.

There will be a balance of teaching and practical mindfulness exercises throughout the day in a safe and inclusive environment.

Participants will learn:

• The science behind mindfulness and trauma

• The spiritual roots of mindfulness

• Effective mindfulness tools and techniques

• Developing mindful habits for greater resilience

This course is part of our new stream of training for 2020

As well as our one-off training courses on a variety of subjects, Breakthrough’s 1-year training course (for those looking to expand their knowledge on trauma and build on their practical skills in supporting survivors) will now be run as individual courses across the year.

This means that people can dip in and out of the training and participate in the topics most relevant to them, or redo them as refreshers!

All 3 of our first training dates of the year will be run in Bath.

15th February – Mindfulness & Trauma

29th February – Trauma Awareness (for Churches)

21st March – Trauma First Aid (for Churches)
