Breastfeeding Peer Support Level 2

About this event
This training is designed for mothers/parents who have breastfed (chestfed, nursed or given human milk) for a minimum of 4 weeks and who have an interest in breastfeeding. We would recommend completing our Award in Breastfeeding Peer Support at QLS Level 1 before completing this training as it is most suitable for mothers/parents wanting to develop their breastfeeding knowledge and peer support skills, with a view to becoming a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. Opportunities and requirements for volunteering or paid work are variable dependant on area and organisation.
The training course covers the following:
- The role of a breastfeeding peer supporter.
- How to communicate as a breastfeeding peer supporter.
- Health benefits of breastfeeding.
- Positioning and attachment.
- Observing and assessing a breastfeed.
- Educating and supporting women.
- Common Breastfeeding problems.
- Alternative ways to feed a baby breastmilk.
- Hand Expression.
Course Details
Course Duration - 2 Sessions
Session Duration - 3 Hours
Dates : Saturday 21st May and Sunday 22nd May 2022
Times :10am-1.15pm
The training consists of 2 x 3 -hour interactive sessions (plus a 15 minute break) delivered online by an experienced trainer. In addition to the interactive sessions there is a small amount of additional home learning and a short end of course assessment to complete.
On successful completion of this training you will receive an E-Certificate from The Quality Licence Scheme, part of The Skills and Education Group, as evidence of your ‘Award in Breastfeeding Peer Support at QLS Level 2’ training. This certificate will be sent by Breastfeeding Together, via email for you to print yourself. The Quality Licence Scheme, endorses high-quality, non-regulated provision and training programmes. This can be listed on your college or UCAS application or used towards your continued professional development (CPD).
