About this event

The resonance of our voices and patterns of our speech are as unique as our fingerprints. It is a reflection of the relationship with ourselves, our habits of tension and our relationship with the world. This session is dedicated to the art of voice. We will learn how we are able to access the power of breath to deepen the place from which we communicate, that our words are an  authentic expression of ourselves and that we can reclaim our right to be heard.

Sara is a certified Breathwork Practitioner, Lead Trainer of Fitzmaurice Voicework®, a Performance-Maker, and Associate Professor at UCT’s Centre for Theatre, Dance & Performance Studies. Her interests are in embodied practices that focus on presencing, co-sensing, collaborating and co-generating as a way of transforming ‘egosystems’ to ‘ecosystems’. Her practice is premised on the understanding that all living beings, both human and other-than-human, are connected by breath. The engagement of conscious breathing enables clients to experience the inter and intra-connectedness of all things and enhances a profound understanding of breath and how it can support emotional regulation and self-knowledge.
