ABOUT :
Transformative Breath, Harmonious Life
Join Yogi, Sophie O’Brien for a special 4-part masterclass: ‘The Breath-Body-Mind Connection’. This multi-week masterclass is a transformational journey which connects you with your higher-self. Tap into ancient Yogic knowledge and explore your physiology. Discover how you can apply this wisdom to harness the power of the breath. Each week journey further into yourself – layer by layer – until you access the deeper levels of the mind.
What to Expect :
Week 1: The Basics
In the first workshop we examine the relationship between our anatomy and the breath. We’ll consider how it moves in the body and what’s happening inside us every time we breathe (from both a physiological and a philosophical perspective). You will learn how to access a full breath in your body and explore this with a simple meditation.
Week 2: The Breath Body
What does altering the breath do to the body? We explore the power of controlling our breath to induce a physiological response and how we may use this to our advantage. Together, we’ll use pranayama and apply this new knowledge to a meditation.
Week 3: The Body-Mind Connect
Our bodies can hold on to trauma in ways our minds are not conscious of. How can we connect and let go within these deeper, seemingly inaccessible, parts of our bodies? We look at how marrying movement with our breath can benefit our bodies, and how to use our breath effectively when we move. We meditate together to close the session.
Week 4: Taking Control
Breath – to control the body; to control the mind. Now you have the tools to direct your breath and can use it to influence the body, we will discuss the path to a clear mind. Once we’re able to stay in stillness – physically and mentally – it is simply a matter of being focussed and patient before your higher intuitive self steps forward. In our final session, we will look at how you can use the techniques we’ve learned going forward, and integrate these practises into your life. Our final meditation will include options for personalisation, and offer real applications of pranayama techniques we’ve learned over the duration of the course.
About Sophie O’Brien :
Last year Sophie completed her Yoga Alliance certified 200 hour yoga teacher training in Goa, India. She studied Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Acro, and Aerial Yoga.
‘Learning Yoga in it’s birthplace has gifted me a wonderful knowledge of the authentic practise, where focus was very much on the spiritual above the physical, and emphasis on Yogic philosophy was prevalent.’
-Sophie O’Brien
Since then, Sophie’s qualifications and knowledge have only been growing; she’s currently sitting on over 40 hours of additional, certified, training, across a variety of topics (yoga therapy, body positive yoga, accessible yoga for all, mum and baby, kids yoga, trauma informed yoga, yoga for chronic pain/scoliosis/wrists/lower backs; to name a few), with her main focus being on anatomy. The spiritual and philosophical side of Yoga is wonderful, but when you apply anatomy and science to these concepts, and see how they physically translate in to our bodies and minds, that’s where the magic happens.
Sophie believes this magic is in all of us. Come and practise with her and you too will realise your power and potential.
