Pilates was pioneered by Joseph Pilates, it’s a mind body method designed to strengthen the weak and challenge the strong. He was a German expatriate who made his mark in England during WW1 after developing a series of exercises and equipment to help prisoners of war regain strength and mobility.

Pilates has grown in popularity as people are becoming more interested in ways of exercising that can relieve stress, prevent injury and help them look good for as long as possible. Through science and research STOTT Pilates is a contemporary approach to the original method as it has been further adapted to suit the modern world.

No form of exercise is appropriate for everyone but Pilates is suitable for most people, men and women. Everyone will see a difference from serious fitness enthusiasts to rehab patients, elite athletes and prenatal clients.

Despite the slow, careful movements Pilates is not for wimps! Even pro athletes benefit from the importance placed on core stability and rebalancing muscles making them work more efficiently and helping to prevent injury along with improving athletic ability.

About Heather Thompson-Barker

Suffering from brittle bones disease since birth and having broken numerous bones over the years I have always battled passionately to keep myself fit and healthy. Knowing that exercise was great for strengthening the muscles around my bones I have always been determined to stick to a good exercise regime but I would become increasingly frustrated at continually sustaining injuries that would put me out of action for weeks at a time, just at a point where I felt I was getting stronger.

I was always trying to find new and improved ways of doing things to keep me injury free when in March 2013 a new Pilates reformer studio opened up around the corner from our apartment in

Description Wim Hof Method:

In this workshop you will learn about and experience all three pillars of the WMH: cold exposure, breathing and mindset/focus. The goal is to give you some powerful tools to boost your health, improve your concentration and energy levels, better connect with your body and mind, and much much more!

Food

You are welcome to bring a small snack if you like to eat in the break. Best to eat light before the workshop commence, lunch will be provided.

HOW TO PREPARE:

If you are new to cold exposure, in the days leading up to the workshop end your warm shower with 30-60 seconds of cold water only. Begin with your feet and then follow with your legs, your stomach, shoulders, neck and back. Focus on calming down your breath. Don’t put your head under the cold shower, it is better to skip the cold shower on the head for the first month. This way you will become more familiar with the way your body reacts to the cold.

Everyone can participate to their own ability and level of comfort. No pressure, just fun day of new experiences and learning. If you have any health conditions or concerns please contact us beforehand and/or check with your doctor. The goal of the workshop is share these simple and effective health and performance improvement tools.
