About this event

  • 2 hours

In a world that wants to run fast, do more, and control all. Return to Roots breathwork circles represent an alternative direction, a way out of the hamster wheel by gently reminding you that everything you need is already here.

Andy has carefully threaded over a decade of self-exploration, study and mentorship in NLP, Shamanism, Buddhism, Circle Work, Reiki and Breathwork to offer a unique space for personal transformation focusing on community and nature-based values.

The motivation behind the in-person breathwork circles is to bring to life indigenous teachings of relating to ourselves and this world in a culturally appropriate manner that befits the modern, busy mind. Such methods focus on being rather than doing and support the embodiment of your health rather than the thinking of it.

During the 2-hour immersive experience, Andy and his team will guide you out of your mind and into your body using breath, music and guided meditation to support you in rebalancing and befriending your nervous system - the gateway to body/mind connection.

What type of breathwork is this?

The session follows a circular breathwork technique commonly known as conscious connected breathing - if you want to see a demo, click here

Is this a spiritual thing?

No, the space is agnostic and welcomes all beliefs in a manner that connects you to your own experience - whatever that might be for you. The workshop aims to provide you with simple yet powerful tools to improve your well-being without the dogma of religion or faith.

Why do people do this type of breathwork?

  • To become more comfortable with oneself
  • Unburden and release stress
  • Experience deeper relaxation and peace
  • Strengthen a connection to those around you
  • Find peace with the past and let go
  • and much, much more...

Will I be in safe hands?

The team comprises of highly experienced trauma-informed facilitators with the skill and direct experience in regulating the nervous system. Andy is a fully insured and certified breathwork facilitator - check out

"The experience was beyond what I had expected… Andy facilitated in a way that allowed me to really connect with my breath and feel safe to let go and allow for my emotions to be fully experienced." - Lorelle (Yorkshire)

"This was the most I have ever got from a breathwork session. Andy made me feel at ease, even though I can get quite nervous. I felt safe, well guided, and the ending of the session was wonderfully managed. This has been such a deep experience, and I cannot thank Andy enough." - Marie (Manchester)

In April 2024, Andy completed his 100th free-to-access online breathwork circle, and to celebrate this milestone, the breathwork community took the time to share their reasons why they breathe with Andy - take a look at the video below.

Meet the team...

A little about Andy...

Andy is, first and foremost, an individual who has had the direct experience of navigating years of debilitating mental health, chronic fatigue and nervous system dysregulation.

His experience of mental and emotional suffering in his 20's paved the foundations for a decade of self-exploration, study and mentorship in NLP, Shamanism, Buddhism, Circle Work, Reiki and Breathwork.

Founding member of Mentell, a national men's mental health charity - supporting over 4000 men with safe and confidential spaces to talk, free from advice and judgement.

Andy trains facilitators across the country with his circle work methodology and is recognized by the NHS and Public Health England for suicide prevention. A fully certified and insured Breathwork, NLP and Reiki Master, he brings a simple and accessible approach to reconnecting our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations back into the present moment.

Andy leads our breathwork circles and supports the team with the weekend retreats and workshop offerings. He is a keen outdoor adventurer and cold-water enthusiast, so be prepared!

A little about Danielle...

Danielle carries a warm, enthusiastic approach and has long been passionate about the bridge between creative arts and mental health. Feeling stuck and searching for meaning, she set off on a path of self-inquiry and therapy in her mid-twenties.

She has since been gathering and integrating ways to regulate, be more present, and remember lost, rejected parts of herself as a bridge to support others on the path. She walks the talk in every sense of the word, and when words alone don't seem enough - her gift to transform the space with intuitive body movement, music and voicework offers a powerful combination within our breathwork workshops.

Danielle’s professional background is weaving Dance Movement Psychotherapy, Yoga TT and Shamanic practice and studies, along with a breadth of personal and professional experience. She brings seven years of clinical experience within the mental health sector (homelessness charities and private) - specialising in working with young women and girls to support trauma recovery and rewild the feminine.

She now supports the Return to Roots workshops in musical, therapeutic and nature-inspired ways!

A little about the venue...

Bradbury Community House is located in the heart of Glossop and offers a much-needed sanctuary to the hustle and bustle of busy life. The ethos behind The Bradbury Community House is to provide the community with not-for-profit spaces for local groups and organisations to use.

The venue has plenty of free parking adjacent to the entrance ( Town Hall Car Park) and a 'big room' downstairs to hold our breathwork sessions comfortably fitting 16 people. The room has yoga mats and access to the kitchen for hot drinks - so you only need to bring yourself!

Purpose before profit

Unfortunately, the global distribution of wealth/minerals and raw materials continually benefits the few while keeping the majority impoverished. As a result, Health inequalities deepen on our doorstep.

There is a phrase in Africa called 'Ubuntu'- loosely translated: I am what I am because of who we all are.

Return to Roots stands for community, and just like the nature of the oak tree, our roots become interconnected to an ecosystem that stretches far and wide. Your money goes into making these breathwork circles sustainable, and any profits go back to good causes to support both the local community and international communities worldwide.

So where do the profits go?

Centro Awavana - www.kairao.org

An international non for profit organisation based in Brazil, set up to protect food sovereignty and cultural preservation for the Yawanawa tribe in the heart of the Amazon.

Mentell Glossop - www.mentell.org.uk

A local charity that aims to reduce male suicide in Glossop by providing men with safe and confidential spaces for men to talk, free from advice and judgement. The local group runs at Bradbury Community House every Thursday from 7-9 pm. and is free to access for any male (18+).

A word on costings...
