Breathwork Poetics: A Creative Writing Workshop with crisp packet poetry
in this workshop, we’ll conduct breathing exercises and utilise this experience to think through opportunities in poetry for the creative use of or insertion of breath - literally or thematically - thus expanding possibilities for your poems on the page and also in a performance setting. through this exploration we will draw research and inspiration from the work of Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Brandon LaBelle, Zoë Brigley, Latif Askia Ba, Caroline Bird, Kaveh Akbar, Jay Bernard, and Nat Raha.
‘breathwork poetics’ will be held from 2-4pm on sunday, november 16th at the wee retreat, just off the crosshill scotrail station, and accessible via multiple bus routes in glasgow. please note that this is an in-person workshop.
this workshop is suitable for experienced writers as well as those new to a structured or concentrated practice. the goal ultimately is simply to explore an idea together, though we will also offer several writing prompts so that hopefully you walk away from the workshop with the drafts for a new piece of work, or the editorial initiative to reshape an existing piece of writing.
the venue is fully accessible with wheelchair-accessible toilets and an entry-ramp - please reach out for details if you have more specific access requests (crisppacketpoetry@gmail.com or @crisppacketpoetry on instagram).
