The Route

Fan y Big (716m) – An Iconic Start

The journey begins with a gradual ascent through rolling valleys and alongside mountain streams, leading to the first summit, Fan y Big.

Diving Board Rock: A natural rock formation offering a striking photographic vantage point with sweeping views of the Central Brecon Beacons and beyond.
The surrounding landscape includes expansive ridgelines and deep-cut valleys, providing a sense of scale and remoteness.

Cribyn (795m) – A Prominent and Rewarding Ascent

The trail continues with a steep climb to the summit of Cribyn, a peak that provides one of the most commanding views in the region.

From the top, there are uninterrupted views of Pen y Fan’s imposing northern face, offering a dramatic perspective of the park’s highest peak.
To the east, the Black Mountains and Hay Bluff stretch into the distance, while the rugged ridge of Fan y Big remains visible to the west.

Pen y Fan (886m) – The Highest Summit in South Wales

The ascent then leads to Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, offering one of the most extensive viewpoints in the UK.

Corn Du (873m) – A Grand Finale with Historic Significance

The final peak, Corn Du, offers a fitting conclusion to the challenge, standing as the second-highest peak in South Wales.

From its summit, hikers can take in expansive views over Cwm Llwch and its glacial lake, one of the most picturesque natural features in the National Park.
The peak is marked by a Bronze Age burial cairn, adding a historic dimension to the journey.
