Description

Overview

A stunning weekend enjoying the Green and fresh landscapes of the Brecon Beacons National Park. This weekend will start with an amazing full day walk where we will encounter numerous different waterfalls, all of which are vibrant and beautiful in their own unique way. Our route even takes us right behind one of the waterfalls which is an amazing experience not to be missed!

For the second day we switch to a different, but just as breath-taking environment, where we summit the highest point in the South of the UK, Pen y Fan, with the summit of Corn Du and Cribyn also available to us.

Included in the trip is 2 nights’ accommodation and the 2 professionally guided walks. Accommodation is usually in a youth hostel, or similar, and may sometimes require sharing a room with other people on the trip. From March to October dates there is also the option of staying in our wonderful Bell Tent which is in a designated dark sky area and on a clear night it is possible to see shooting stars and the milky way.

The accommodation is for the Friday and Saturday night, checking out on the Sunday morning before our walk.

Itinerary

Arrive at the designated location on the Friday evening where we will meet the group and give a short briefing of the weekend.

On the Saturday we have our wonderful waterfall walk. We will take time to ensure that everyone is organised and ready before we set off on the hike. The walk is about 10 miles. It is full day of walking, but we go at a steady pace as there are many opportunities to stop and take phots and enjoy the scenery.

On the Sunday we check out of the accommodation and make our way to the summit of Pen y Fan. We take a less known route than most people and it offers much more dramatic views as well as being much quieter. This walk is about 9 miles and we aim to finish a little earlier than on the first day. Once we have descended and triumphantly returned to our vehicles we will set off for home with great memories, stories and photographs of the weekend. A detailed itinerary of the event including timings, directions to the meeting point and further information about the event, will be sent out to all booked participants.

Training and Preparation

We will ensure that you have all the information you need, and our expert team of experienced guides will ensure your safety throughout the event. However, the more preparation you put in before the event the greater your enjoyment and chance of success.

The terrain we are walking in for the first day of this event is very rugged, and the on the second day we will be heading for the summit of the highest mountain in the south of the UK. The terrain is rugged, rocky and mountainous so please arrive prepared. You will need the correct kit. Your footwear is particularly important. If you are not used to hiking or hill-walking, then the sooner that you start training the better. Your chance of success on any of our events can be greatly increased by being well prepared for the challenge ahead; mentally, physically and with the right equipment. If you have any questions, then please ask us.

Event Grading

This is not a technical hike, so the summit is within reach of any reasonably fit and determined person.

Our social media channels contain photographs, videos and customer reviews from all our previous trips and are a great way to engage with us and get an idea of what to expect on the event.
