Event description

Description

The impact of the Article 50 negotiations on people’s lives and attitudes.

The relationship between Brexit and democracy is fraught. For many, the vote to leave the European Union was a moment in which ‘the people’ were finally able to make their voice heard. But where are ‘the people’ now?

As the Brexit process gathers pace in the comment pages of the newspapers and the corridors of power, people – if they were ever truly heard – are in danger of being forgotten. What will be the impact of the various different possible versions of Brexit on people around the country? Who would benefit from a hard Brexit, and who would suffer? And what do people make of it all?

The New Economics Foundation is delighted to invite you to a panel discussion aimed at bringing people back into the Brexit debate.

Chair: Mary Riddell (journalist)
Maurice Glasman (Life peer and director of the Common Good)
Lisa Nandy MP (MP for Wigan)
Rob Ford (Professor of Political Science, Manchester University)
Ruth Ibegbuna (Chief Executive, RECLAIM)
