About this Event
This half day training is designed to help traders understand Customs clearance and prepare to instruct their agent to clear their goods at import and export from January 2021. We don’t advise new importers and exporters to complete customs declarations themselves, at least at the beginning. This training will help you to understand:
- Customs clearance
- Customs compliance requirements as well as the exporter and importer compliance obligation
- Customs duties and duty reduction procedures
Programme
- Incoterms: Understand the role of Incoterms. Select the most appropriate terms for your imports and export to clarify each party 's responsibility.
- Customs classification: select the correct commodity code for your products so or your customer you pay the right amount of import duty, not too much, not too little.
- Customs duties: Learn how to check the amount of duty at import in the UK and your customers’ country.
- Customs valuation: Understand and determine the correct valuation method for your imports or export.
- Customs procedure: Understand the main import and export procedures and their respective compliance requirements. Understand Special Procedures (customs warehousing, Outward Processing Relief, Inward Processing Relief…) providing savings or by delaying the tax point, cash-flow benefits.
- Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Rules of Origin: Understand how to take advantage of the FTA signed by the UK and other countries, including possibly the EU. Meeting the obligations of FTAs allows to reduce or remove import duties.
- Customs declarations, clearance instructions and import/export documentation: understand how customs declaration are completed and learn how to instruct your agent to clear the goods for import and export.
- Record keeping: Recording your import and export transactions, keeping records and maintaining an audit trail
