Event description

Description

On the 23 June 2016 the U.K.'s eligible electorate voted in favour for the U.K. Government to intiate Article 50 -The United Kingdom European Union membership Referendum, commonly known as The Brexit Referendum, and leave the European Union. Article 50 was triggered on the 29th March and one year on we wonder what impact the BREXIT phenomenom has had on Britain and the logisitics automation industry.

With a year to go until the U.K. intends to leave the European Union there remain many uncertainties in relation to the four freedoms of movement that will benifit or hinder Britains trade position with the European Union and the rest of the world - including the freedom of movement of Goods, Labour, Services and Capital.

As a result of our inteded departure the GBP witnessed a sharp devaluation against many foreign currencies, not least the U.S. Dollar and the Euro. Predictions, following Article 50 being triggered, were that the U.K. would experience, amongst other economical influences, some European Nationals returning home or even emigrating to other European Union Countries in search of social and economic stability for themselves and their families. Thus, resulting in a shortfall in labour and driving the increased need for more automation.

We aim to deliver useful and stimulative information to delegates that might offer insights into the persausive attitudes and approaches being adopted by some political and business leaders who are at the forefront of deliberations of our nations direction in relation to our withdrawl from the EU.

Areas for discussion will include:

  • The new perception of the UK in relation to commerce and trade
  • The Governments 12 point plan for discussion
  • The Timetable for leaving
  • Our stability and future position as a world top ten economy
  • The deal so far
  • Strategies for consideration

Once again we are delighted that Professor Alan Braithwaite, Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management and Chairman of LCP Consulting (one of the leading supply chain consultancies) will be joining us to present an update from his point of view in relation to progress. No doubt this will add weight to the debate and discussions that will be be thrashed out around the table throughout the session. Alan will be on hand and attempt to allay fears and mitigate risks with suggested potential strategies and approaches to cope with the ever changing environment and political ladnscape.

The workshop will run from 0930 am (with teas and coffees from 09.00) and will finish after lunch at around 1.00 pm (with an opportunity for further networking until 1.30 pm).

Teas and coffees and a buffet lunch will be provided, all included in the cost.

This promises to be a healthy debate and will provide delegates with useful and thought provoking opinions that might aid business development strategies.

Places are limited given the nature of this event and will be allocated on a first come first served basis - Please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointrment..
