Event description
Interview and discussion with Andrew Adonis about crises, blunders and a new direction for the European Movement and its supporters.

About this event

Blame has been placed on the pandemic, world shortages, low wages and the EU. But, like Voldemort's name, the media can barely whisper "Brexit". Until now that is. Can the European Movement position itself to influence the course of events? Can we chart a course back to where we belong: at the heart of Europe?

Andrew Adonis, newly appointed chair of the European Movement, is coming to Wiltshire (virtually) to answer questions about the state of play, distinguish between fact and fiction, and point us in a positive direction.

SOME QUESTIONS WE'D LIKE TO ASK LORD ADONIS:

> CRISES GALORE AND THE BLAME GAME

  • How can EM take advantage of a confusion of crises?
  • Can ‘Europe’ cut through and include the urgent demands of education, climate change, jobs and health?

> POLTICIS: EUROPE AND THE UK

  • As a non-member of the EU, what is the UK missing out on right now?
  • What about downsides of the EU?
  • Will the EU take the UK's European ambitions seriously?
  • In its populism, is the government digging its own grave?

> EUROPEAN MOVEMENT: GROWING ITS INFLUENCE NATIONALLY

  • How can groups like ours help deliver EM’s ambitions?
  • With whom should we engage locally?
  • How will EM influence the national political 'conversation'?

> AND MORE ... OVER TO YOUR QUESTIONS!
