BRICKS Virtual Book Club: The Coin by Yasmin Zaher

The Coin tells the story of a fashionable Palestinian schoolteacher in NYC who gets wrapped up in a pyramid scheme reselling Birkin bags. As the protagonist begins to unravel, obsessing over cleanliness and purity, Zaher explores themes of materialism, trauma, class, and belonging – oscillating through the extreme chaos of American consumerism and the guilt of displacement. ⁠
