Join us for the launch of Ocean Cultures, and the premiere of a co-created digital artwork exploring environmental justice through socially engaged art.
This international collaboration brings together Take A Part, Global Environment Centre (Malaysia), artists Shaq Koyok (Malaysia) and Owen Griffiths (Wales), and local communities in Plymouth and Malaysia.
Shaq and Owen have worked with communities in Mukim Tanjung Dua Belas (Selangor, Malaysia) and Plymouth’s East End to co-create a digital call to action. Through shared dialogue and creative exchange, they’ve explored how socially engaged practice can respond to the climate crisis and support grassroots action.
At this event, Shaq, Owen, and East End participants will share the work, the process, and what they’ve learned. Our young people’s group, the Ocean City Influencers, will also present their work from this programme and other recent projects.
There will be an opportunity to take part in a short making activity. You can also respond to all you see and hear via some creative writing prompts.
This event is FREE to attend and snacks will be provided!
