Event description
Free Briefing for providers to keep children safe during community activities, after-school clubs, sports clubs and tuition.

About this event

Free briefing on Department for Education, new safeguarding code of practice from for providers of community activities, after-school clubs, sports clubs and tuition to understand best practice for creating a safe environment for children in their care.

Safeguarding and promoting welfare of children, is everyone's responsibility.

The Government recognises that out-of-school settings such as extra-curricular clubs, tuition centre and supplementary schools, play an important role in providing enriching activities for children that improve their wellbeing . The Government want all children to have the opportunity to attend these setting safely.

Safeguarding code of practice aims to:

  • help organisations or individuals who provide community activities, tuition or after-school clubs for children, also known as out-of-school-settings (OOSS) providers, as well as their staff and volunteers understand best practice for creating a safe environment for children in their care.
  • The Government know that providers will want to ensure they are creating a safe environment for the children in their care, and so we are encouraging them to review the code to check that their setting meets the standards outlined in each of its four sections: Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding, Suitability of Staff and Volunteers, and Governance.

Note: This is non-statutory guidance from the Department for Education(DfE).
