Event description

Description

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the new data protection legislation which is coming into force on 25 May 2018. It is stricter than current regulation, the Data Protection Act (DPA). GDPR will introduce a number of new data protection obligations for organisations and new rights for individuals. It’s essential as a funder or organisations and/or individuals gets to grips with the changes and starts preparing now.

The new regulation affects anyone holding and handling personal data such as donor lists, newsletter distributions lists or beneficiary, volunteer or employee information. Ultimately it relates to any data by which an individual can be identified. Access to people’s personal data will need to be more robustly controlled.

As a funder of organisations and/or individuals, if you’re uncertain about how this applies to your work and what you need to do if anything, then book yourself onto the briefing.

Darren Wright, InsideOutcomes, will provide participants with some practical tips on how to get their organisation ready for GDPR and focus on funders taking a fresh look at the way you collect and store data.
