This is the first training session for people who want to perform at the Bright Club events at the Edinburgh Science Festival on the 5th, 12th, 13th and 14th of April.
Second (practice) sessions will be on the 31st of March, and 7th or 8th of April.
The Bright Club is a totally unique public engagement event in which researchers, from all fields of academia and industry, take to the stage to deliver a short stand-up comedy routine about their research. We’ve got four shows coming up as part of the science festival, as well as regular monthly shows at the stand – so we’re looking for people get involved and make us laugh!
All our performers are, of course, researchers (from PhD students to Professors) and not comedians, so you absolutely don’t need any stand-up experience. You don’t even need to have any jokes written, because we give you all the training and practice you need. It’s easier than you think, but don’t tell your friends that because they’ll look at you in awe.
