Brighton & Hove Business Surgery – hosted by Councillor Mohammed Asaduzzaman, Brighton & Hove City Council’s newly appointed Small Business Ambassador, will be hosting a regular business surgery from our Business & IP Centre (BIPC) in Jubilee Library.

Drawing on his years of civic leadership and ongoing work across neighbourhoods, Cllr Asaduzzaman highlights the need to place small businesses, community traders, and festival organisers at the centre of economic and cultural planning. He recognises the persistent challenges faced by small business owners — and champions stronger and more consistent support to ensure that local businesses are treated as core partners in economic growth, regeneration, and cultural development.

The aim of the Business Surgeries is to build on Cllr Asaduzzaman’s support for small businesses to open a stronger dialogue with business owners and entrepreneurs on delivering growth, building on the work of the BIPC and the new Growth Hub digital service.

Listening to Small Business – delivering growth

In late 2024, Brighton & Hove City Council agreed to adopt a citywide Economic Plan that re-affirms our commitment to supporting and accelerating skills, jobs, and sustainable growth across our city. The plan wants to see imaginative ways to reach communities and neighbourhoods and build on the work of our many innovative small businesses, to create a fairer, more sustainable, and more productive city.

If your answer to the following questions is “yes,” then booking a Business Surgery with Cllr Asaduzzaman might be for you!

  • Do you run a business? Or want to scale-up a business?
  • Do you want to move to Brighton & Hove to grow your business?
  • Do you want to invest in our city?
  • Do you have innovative ideas that you would like to share?
  • Is there something that is blocking your investment that you need help with?

Please note that this is not an opportunity to pitch for funding – no financial requests will be considered in the Business Surgery.
