Event description

Description

The Regency Society has been working with Steve Myall and the Society of Brighton Print Collectors on a new website of Regency and Victorian Prints of Brighton and Hove. We will launch and demonstrate the site this evening at the Keep.

The new site contains several hundred prints from the 1780s to the 1890s. Some are well known, others very rare. It will be a wonderful companion site to the James Gray Collection of historic photographs.

Talk

Steve Myall will talk about the techniques used to make the prints. He has also promised to bring some of the originals for us to see.

A book about people behind the prints

We will be launching a new book by Andy Grant and Steve Myall: The Victorian Chroniclers of Brighton. The Regency Society is delighted to be publishing this book with RS Trustee David Fisher as editor. It tells the stories of 4 of the personalities most responsible for putting our heritage on record in the 19th century. There will be a very substantial reduction on the £20 cover price on the night. Chroniclers is a useful addition to any bookshelf on the history of Brighton and Hove. It will make an excellent Christmas present for anyone fascinated by our heritage.

Drinks and light canapés will be served.

We expect high demand for places at this event: book early to avoid disappointment
