Description

WEDNESDAY 14 FEB, 10AM – MIDDAY: PRINT YOUR OWN POLAR BEAR

Art workshop with printmaker Bea based on her expedition to the Arctic Circle. How on earth do you make prints on a ship near the north pole? An exciting hands on workshop, find out how Bea used simple skills to produce prints in the arctic and use her techniques with stencils and varied surfaces to make your own arctic artwork.

How does a polar bear keep warm? How do bearded seals communicate under water? And why does a blue whale do a pink poo? Discover arctic animals and find out what it was like to get up close to a real polar bear!

We will have creative fun using texture, shape and colour whilst finding out about the extraordinary animals of the Arctic Circle and how they have adapted to live in this unique environment.

Participants will have a go at inking up a lino cut and using a proper artist’s printing press, making their own print of a polar bear to take home. Everyone is invited to make an artistic contribution to our Imaginary Natural History Museum.

The Arctic Adventure children’s art/ science workshops are part of Bea von Preussen's Arctic Adventure exhibition at O N C A. They will be led by Bea and Ellie, ONCA’s outreach artist. There are also workshops on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 Feb.

Cost: £10 per participant. For all ages up to 12. Under 5s must be accompanied.

Please contact info@onca.org.uk/ 01273 607101 for a sibling discount.
