If you are no longer able to attend a course, we may be able to refund the course cost up to 7 days before the course start date. The Eventbrite administrative fee included in the advertised price (£0.49 + 6.5%(+20% UK VAT)) is non-refundable unless the course is cancelled by us.

This course is for:

This course will provide an opportunity to use flowers, arts, and crafts to provide stimulation for the mind and improve your general wellbeing. It is for anyone who feels they would benefit from developing their floristry, art, and craft skills in a supportive and creative environment. It will develop your skills and knowledge in a broad range of arts and crafts media to enable you to create individual, personal, and expressive pieces of work.

You will learn:

A variety of skills in a selection of creative activities which will include flower arranging, book folding flowers, fabric, and paper flowers. Explore using affordable and recycled source materials in your designs. Share and experiment with ideas for homemade gifts for others and yourself. Learners are given the support they require for their individual development and will be able to work on their own projects.

• Sign posting on where to get support if needed.

• Improve mood.

• To relax using flowers

• Learn new skills

This is a classroom-based face to face course which will provide an opportunity to develop your craft skills in a friendly, sociable environment.

There are no exams or formal assessments.

Your tutor will give you feedback during the course, and you will be able to self-assess.

Work outside of sessions:

This is not required, though we hope you will want to put what you have learned into practice.

Additional costs and what to prepare:

This course is offered free of charge.

You will need a pen and paper so that you can make your own notes.

You may wish to wear an apron.

Progression from this course:

You may wish to progress to another Brightside – Flowers and Crafts for Wellbeing or Floristry – Spring Flower Arrangements which can be done online via Nearpod or at Bolsover Adult Education Centre or Hunloke Adult Education Centre (Chesterfield).Discuss your next steps with your tutor or centre staff.

Course fees explained

Some of our courses are free of charge. Others have a full fee and a lower ‘concessions’ rate for those on certain benefits. This may vary from course to course so please ask when enquiring about a particular course. For many of our learning for leisure courses we use three different fee bands:

Fee A: Full fee

Fee B: Derbyshire Gold cards holders

Fee C: Concessions for those on certain benefits/allowances – details are on our How to fund your learning page.

There may be additional costs on some courses for materials please ask for details.

If selecting one of the reduced rates, you will be asked to show proof of entitlement when attending course.

Booking:

A booking fee is charged by Eventbrite for each booking, this is retained by Eventbrite. Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service receive the course fee.
