Brilliant Bats of Barnsley walk

Experience the bats of Barnsley that call this beautiful geenspace home. The Fleets is a mixed habitat of woodland and a lake, which makes for a perfect combination of habitat for bats to forage from.

We will provide bat detectors for you to borrow so we can hear the bats and help locate them. We will then be able to see them flying and foraging around the site.

What to bring/wear

We'd recommend sturdy and waterproof footwear or wellies, and lots of layers! A torch / head torch is hands, and if you have your own bat detector, bring it along too! It is midge and mosquito season so we highly recommend wearing insect repellent.

Toilets and catering

There are no toilet or catering facilities on this site. However, Asda will be open.

Joining us on the day

Meet us in the car park of Asda Barnsley, near the bottle bins.

Parking

Park in Asda, Barnsley on Old Mill Lane. The event leader will take car registrations and register them with Asda.

Additional information

This is a walk at night time, and we cover about a mile. We walk at a steady pace.

All children (under 18's) must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
