Event description

On 2nd & 3rd September 2016 at the National Waterways Museum Ellesmere Port, we are celebrating the 300th birthday of pioneering civil engineer James Brindley. James Brindley (1716-1772) could be said to have been the first in a long line of civil engineers who had an enormous impact on the industrial revolution which was to sweep Britain. Brindley was partly responsible for the Bridgewater and Trent & Mersey Canals, among much else. The event will include talks, presentations and tours as well as an opportunity to explore a new exhibition illustrating Brindley's life.
