******UPDATE 28/3/13 - We're releasing the last batch of returns at 3pm today! First come first served. Best of Luck*******
Invisible Flock with Hope & Social invite you to a very special Launch for their soon be released selection of songs from the shows.... "Bring the Happy". This show is free in but we'd like you to register in advance so we know how many party rings to buy.
(In case you didn't know Bring the Happy is a show that we made in conjuction with Invisible Flock which may be the best thing we've done...)
We're doing this show for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we've made an album of songs and motherfunking spoken word from the Leeds Bring the Happy show (and we think is mad as a fish and bloody GORGEOUS). Secondly we're just about to start 2 years of doing shows with the Invisible Flock peops as they take Bring the Happy show across the country and beyond and this seemed worth celebrating. Thirdly, we reet fancied a pint and some party rings! You know what I mean... Like when you really fancy a pint? And some party rings? Like a proper decent pint? With some party rings? Onomnomnom....
Si, Rich, James and Ed will be acoustically playing some of the music from the show if we can remember it and some H&S songs that we pretend to know better and then we'll be getting as raucous as our advancing years will let us. Till at least GONE MIDNIGHT. BOOM.
Come down. It's going to be slightly better than Friday night tele and cheaper than going to the cinema.
PS we may be lying about the party rings but the rest of it is true.
PPS this will be your first chance to buy the Bring the Happy album in its physical form and you'll be able to get a FREE PIECE OF UNIQUE AND LIMITED EDITION ART with every copy sold on the evening. [NB. Disclaimer - free piece of art will be cheap and will never be worth anything even to the most mental collector. It will be nice though... Hopefully.
Bring the Happy is an ongoing project about happiness.
In 2010 Invisible Flock took over two disused shop spaces in Leeds city centre, built a giant 3D map of the city and for two months asked people to mark onto it their moments and memories of happiness, explaining what the memory was, where it took place and how happy it made them feel on a scale of 1-10.
Over 1,300 memories were collected and transformed into a unique performance with Hope & Social.
Bring the Happy is about to begin touring the UK collecting moments and memories of happiness from many more cities and town's. More info HERE:
There's a review of the Bring the Happy Leeds show we did just HERE.
When & Where
Hope and Social
Hope and Social are a band who do things a little bit differently. We're an independent band hailing from Leeds and some of the best things we've ever done have been to do with involving people in the events we run. Soooooo....
.... we've had 70 people Come Dine With Us at our studio...
... we've taken 80 people to the seaside on an open top double decker the Hope and Social Fun Bus...
... and we've done countless shows up and down the country... including Glastonbury.
We also wear Blue jackets.
That's all very good but are Hope and Social actually any good?
Well far be it for me to say...
“Brilliant, uplifting and inclusive. That was amazing, here’s your cheque” - Michael Eavis, Glastonbury Festival
"a big sound from this impressive outfit...inspired, anthemic, great" - Q magazine
“smash-your-head-into-the-wall brilliant” - Entertainment Weekly
“one of the UK’s top five live bands” - The Independent
“I’ve heard the name vaguely” - Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2
Loved by our fans, and converting people gig by gig… the most honest thing to say is that we try our best!
Hope and Social are... Simon Wainwright: Vocal, guitar, piano / Rich Huxley: Guitar, Vocals / Ed Waring: Rhodes, Organ / Simon Goff: Bass, Strings / James Hamilton: Trumpet (and other brass) / Gary Stewart: Drums, Vocals… plus anybody else who wishes to don a blue jacket…
