Description

CAFOD is offering new, free CPD supported by the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning.

This course is suitable for secondary RE teachers.

Bring the world into your RE classroom, aims to:

  • Enrich your KS3 curriculum through global learning strategies, tools and resources inspired by our work overseas.

  • Provide a helpful bridge to your GCSE content.

This course will support participants to enrich the curriculum by embedding global learning within Religious Education. It will provide global learning strategies, tools and resources, many inspired by the work of our overseas partners. Participants will have opportunities to learn from the perspectives and experiences of those living and working in the Global South, thereby engaging with different ways of seeing the world, growing in respect for people of other cultures, faiths and beliefs. You will experience activities that help students understand their interdependence with other people and the planet, and will be able to make links between your curriculum, care for our common home and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

As well as the day’s training, we will provide ongoing online and offline support to help you implement the learning from the day into the life of your school. There will then be a one-hour twilight seminar (date and time to be arranged in conversation with the participants, approximately 6 weeks later) so you can share ideas and feedback on the tools and strategies you have implemented.

Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning supports teachers and school leaders to improve teaching, giving students the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to make a positive contribution now and in the future. Through connections with other schools, professional development for teachers and engaging learning resources, Connecting Classrooms helps develop students equipped to live and work in a globalised world.
