The Bedgrove Residents & Community Association, Chiltern Rangers, and Buckinghamshire Council’s Parks Team have joined forces to restore Bedgrove Spinney which has existed since the 17th century. By working together with our local community we hope to ensure its future and make it an improved space for people and wildlife.

Transport & Address:

Meet us on site at 10am by the Queens Green Canopy area planted in 2022 (access down the side of the Church of the Holy Spirit, W3W - logo.select.panel)

Please walk to site if you are able to but if you do need to drive, please park in Bedgrove Community Centre, off Ambleside, HP21 9TT, W3W - mirror.codes.bound. Or there is free parking for two hours at Jansel Square shops, W3W - buzz.shiny.dance.

If you arrive after 10am, please make your way into the Spinney to find us.

The Task:

We will be starting our restoration work by removing damaged trees and overhanging branches. This will allow more light into the Spinney and will help make the pathways more accessible and safer for all.

We will also be making and installing bat and owl boxes to help bring more wildlife to Bedgrove.

We are relying on our local community and volunteers to make the Spinney more welcoming to everyone and to improve access for all. Please come and join us for the whole day or just an hour or two.

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

10.00: Arrival for safety briefing and start work

11.30: Tea & coffee break

13.00: Lunch time, please bring your own

15.30: Work finishes, time to go home, thank you for your support!

What to bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. If it's a sunny day you may want to bring a hat and some suncream.

Please bring plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.

Please note:

Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.

Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
