Description

Bringing Picture Books to Life

About the Training

This evidence-based training session provides an opportunity for delegates to reflect on how they share stories and how this impacts on children’s literacy development. Delegates will join in with a range of practical activities that will support them to develop their practice with children aged 3 to 5.

Course Aims and Objectives

This course aims to help delegates to:

  • Be more confident using picture books with groups of children
  • Use their voice effectively to engage children
  • Think about different kinds of picture books and how these impact on a child's language and literacy development
  • Use a simple model of storytelling with props
  • Plan a playful story session

Eligibility Criteria

Delegates must be working or volunteering with children aged 3-5 years

This training course is aimed at early years/nursery staff, library staff, play leaders, health staff, prison visitor centre staff, staff/volunteers at charities and childminders.

In order to ensure a fair spread of delegates, we ask that no more than two people from the same workplace attend one training date.
