Event description

Description

Welcome to Bristol Free School's special screening of acclaimed Body Image documentary 'Embrace!'

This is a NOT TO BE MISSED film that depicts one woman's journey from hating to loving her body. This film is so inspiring, I have hosted it in Bristol 3 times already. The feedback was always "This film needs to be seen in schools" and happily, now it can be!

YOU CAN HOST YOUR OWN SCREENING TOO, and so can other schools by purchasing a screening licence from the 'Body Image Movement'. Look for 'Embrace:The Union Project' for details

Info about the film:

"The inspiration for EMBRACE came about after I posted an unconventional before-and-after image on the internet in 2013 that sparked an international media frenzy. The image, which embraces body diversity, was seen by over 100 million people worldwide and led to hundreds of interviews and articles." Taryn Brumfitt, Director of Embrace

Embrace is told from the point of view of Taryn as she traverses the globe talking to experts, women in the street and well-known personalities about the alarming rates of body image issues that are seen in people of all body types. In her affable and effervescent style, Taryn bares all (literally) to explore the factors contributing to this problem and seeks to find solutions.

Embrace had its world premiere at the 2016 Sydney Film Festival, where it made it into the festival directors’ top 5 picks and was nominated for the Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Best Documentary.
